They value outside expertise in the realms of accounting, HR, digital marketing, business administration, business strategy, and long-term planning. They are humble and teachable and eager to learn all they can from others to make their own journey better. They highly value the expertise that others can bring to the table, and they respect the people who work with them.
An ideal client wants to build their business in such a way that their business becomes a valuable asset that can be sold someday to fund their long-term goals. They have a business in the $1M-$10M range, or have a clear vision and drive to get there (which is why I've set a lower minimum revenue number of $180K instead of $1M). They're typically building a team larger than themselves, and are investing in systems, processes, procedures, and delegation in order to reduce the business's dependence on the owner(s) so that the business is more valuable and is able to be sold someday. The owner may never intend to sell, but building a valuable and sustainable business today means that they are prepared if life circumstances ever force a change of plans.

Clients who wouldNOTbe a good fit

Business owners who: - Intend to stay solo or to remain under $1M in revenue indefinitely
- Do not prioritize organization, mission, or strategy
- Prefer to 'play it by ear' rather than having robust strategic plans
- Do not invest in systems, processes, procedures and delegation
- Jump into high-risk opportunities without an operations or contingency plan
- Have short-term business goals to maximize personal cash flow or tax advantages or passive income, with little interest in long-term effects of these decisions
- Are willing to make decisions that could risk or incur penalties if the perceived advantage is greater than the penalty
- Feel that bookkeeping is a necessary evil that should be taken care of as quickly and cheaply as possible
- May be so dedicated to the business that they don't trust their team and feel a need to personally take over whenever something goes off script
- May believe that a good team should be able to handle everything without needing communication from the owner
- Feel that communication is a waste of time, and inboxes often go unread for days or weeks

Ingenium Business & Consulting Services is a firm of accounting professionals and related business professionals offering bookkeeping, payroll, A/P, A/R, HR, benefits administration, and other related services. We primarily serve companies in the realm of professional services (such as law firms, medical practices, consulting firms, and real estate firms) who desire to be organized, missional, and strategic; who invest in systems, processes, procedures, and people; and who want to build valuable businesses that they can sell at some point in the future.
We provide our clients with CPA-ready financials and give them a consistent year-round client services experience that is not at the mercy of the tax season/off-season rollercoaster that is so typical in the industry. OUR STAFF DOES NOT DO BUSINESS OR PERSONAL INCOME TAXES. If you're looking for a CPA or tax preparer, we have partnered with a CPA firm we trust that is solely focused on tax preparation, and we refer our clients and prospects to them. We have other CPA referrals available as well. If you're already set on the CPA or tax preparer front, we typically work closely with each client's CPA or tax preparer on tax matters and take point on coordination so that our client isn't caught in the middle.

Each client is assigned an account manager who is a highly-personable and highly-proficient practitioner (not a salesperson!) and who is also the primary person delivering services to their business. We do this so that there is the least amount of friction, information loss, and time loss between receiving a client request and fulfilling it. We don't want our clients speaking to middlemen who don't understand what the client is asking for and who don't have the expertise to answer most of their questions directly without asking someone else for input. A plurality of our team, including most of our account managers, are current or former small business owners, so there is a high likelihood that whenever you engage with our team you will be dealing with someone who knows what it's like to be an entrepreneur, and who can walk through the highs and lows with you from a place of empathy informed by experience.
