Our Ideal Client Profile
You’ve saved diligently, lived within your means, and now retirement is getting real. You want a partner to help you navigate the next chapter and make good decisions with what you’ve already built.
Most clients are nearing retirement or recently retired, have meaningful savings in 401(k)s, IRAs, and brokerage accounts, and want their investments, taxes, and estate planning to finally work together instead of in silos.
We're Probably Not A Good Fit If
✗ We’re not a match if you’re chasing hot investments, market predictions, or prefer quick answers over thoughtful planning. We focus on diligent savers nearing or in retirement who want a collaborative partner to help them make good decisions with what they’ve already built.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is your typical client?

Our typical client has saved $500,000 - $10,000,000 towards their retirement. They often have a mix of assets in various accounts that need help simplifying and converting into a retirement paycheck. They also see value in tax and legacy planning.
Why such a large range of savings?

Because families within that band have similar needs and wants from their nest egg. We have extensive experience working with clients above that range, but we find families outside of that range aren't "typical."

How do we discover if we’re a good fit for each other?

Before becoming a client, we take you through our complimentary partnership discovery process before you pay us a single dollar or trust us with a nickel of your nest egg.
This process is designed to walk through your current financial situation and assess what actions you should consider taking. It allows you to learn how we think, and it allows us to discover if we’re a good fit for you.

If after those interactions, we see a mutual benefit to engage in an on-going partnership we will take the necessary steps to begin our partnership. Visit calcwealth.com/our-process/ for specific details.

What if our fee exceeds the value you’re receiving?

If at any time you perceive the value that you’re receiving doesn’t exceed the price you’re paying, I will refund your last payment and we can part ways as friends. This is true whether we’re working in an advice-only arrangement or a full-service wealth management setting.

After we start working together, what happens?

After we begin our partnership, we take what we learned from our Partnership Discovery Process and put it into action. The initial focus often falls into one of three categories:
- Retirement Income – Cash Flow Optimization

- Risk Management – Asset Protection

- Income Taxes

- Retirement Portfolio

The order depends on your facts and circumstances.

How do you invest your own money?

My entire investment portfolio consists of low-cost ETFs, with no individual stocks, bonds, or mutual funds. I believe in a dynamic, globally diversified investment philosophy built on dual momentum and trend following. My goal isn’t to outperform the market; instead, it’s to pursue a greater reliability of outcomes.
A copy of my investment statement (values redacted) is available upon request.

While this is how I choose to invest my money, some of my clients prefer a more traditional buy-and-hold portfolio, which is similar to what you find at most advisory firms.

My number one job is to protect you from running out of money, which includes ensuring you can stick to your investment plan so ultimately together we decide which strategy is best for you to achieve those goals.
About Calculated Wealth
Calculated Wealth partners with motivated individuals and their families to navigate life’s biggest financial transitions—especially retirement and business sales.
We’ve intentionally built a boutique firm instead of a volume practice. Most advisory firms chase scale, stretching each advisor across 100+ families; we’d rather know fewer families really well.

That means prioritizing deep connection and intentionally limiting our partnerships to kind, thoughtful, and future‑focused families who want to be deliberate with the money they’ve worked hard to build.
